Lloyd Howard Hawley 1899-1956
Photo-left: Grandpa Hawley as a babyLloyd Hawley, son of to Walter and Louie Hawley, was born in Garnett Kansas December 17, 1899 and died in Salem, Illinois, February 4, 1956. He married Emma Elizabeth Skeens on April 10, 1920 in Paola, Kansas. When he was 19 and living in Kansas, he decided he wanted to join the troops that were heading overseas to fight in World War I. However, when he went to get on the train it was announced that the war was over. Lloyd worked for Texas Oil in Kansas and was eventually transferred to Salem, Illinois, where he moved his young family. When they moved to Salem the town was so crowded from the oil boom that people were sleeping on resident's porches. It was a local family, the Parrishes, who helped Lloyd and his family find a place to live. Read more at the blog: Lloyd Howard Hawley

Wife of LloydEmma Elizabeth Skeens Hawley was born in Paola, Kansas, July 17, 1901 and died in Salem, Illinois, in October 1984.
