My 1972 Trip to Walt Disney World

Pam Hawley Marlin October 2021

These original photos represent my first trip to Walt Disney World in August 1972, ten months after the park first opened on October 1, 1971. This was probably my first real 'photographer' experience as indicated by the little girl (me) in the orange plaid with her camera at the ready in front of Cinderella's castle. My first trip to Disney was with my aunt (in the red dress) and uncle (who took the original photos). Sadly, the photos I took are long gone - but I would loved to have seen my photographic perspective at such a young age. I continue to Disney regularly, so I took opportunity to re-create a few of the original 1972 photos during Disney's 50th Anniversary celebration.

Original main street and Cinderella's castle. I'm the little girl in orange plaid on the right.
