Drayton Hall in Charleston, SC, is the real thing.
Instead of being restored to the vision of those who lived centuries after it was built, Drayton Hall is an artifact that has
survived the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the earthquake of 1886.

11.19.08Giving Up on God
If a democratic win has done anything this election year, it has produced a barage of articles by the left-wing media-ites bashing the republican party and those who supported it (all 55 million of us). Republicans have been accused of religious zealotry, anti-intellectualism, clinging to their religion and guns, and as the NY Times article, For South, a Waning Hold on National Politics mentions, republicans are poorer, less educated and whiter. Though Sarah Palin does not wear her religion on her sleeve, she's made it clear that her life is guided by a higher power and she draws comfort and strength from that. The media, however, hated that and constantly attacked her for it, making it an issue. Kathleen Parker, of the Washington Post, again, makes fun of Sarah and attempts to give the republican party some advice in her article, Giving Up On God. She writes, "The evangelical, right-wing, oogedy-boogedy branch of the GOP is what ails the erstwhile conservative party and will continue to afflict and marginalize its constituents if reckoning doesn't soon cometh." She continues, "Armband religion is killing the Republican Party." Armband religion? Is she implying fascist? Kathleen calls herself a conservative, but I think she is seriously confused and alone.11.17.08

Sarah Unplugged
Photo left: Piper chats with President Bush on mom's cell phone as they prepare to fly from Dallas to San Antonio. The photos were taken by White House photographer, Shealah Craighead, who took thousands of pictures of Sarah and her family during the two month campaign. Craighead comments, "Who you see behind the scenes is who you get out front, which is one thing I admired about her." View photos of Sarah on the campaign trail at Newsweek.com.11.14.08

Tech Snuffs JFK Controversy
The Discovery Channel has recreated the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy using modern blood spatter analysis, new artificial human body surrogates, and 3-D computer simulations. The team determined that the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository was the most likely origin of the shot that killed the 35th president of the United States. The Discovery Channel will broadcast 'JFK: Inside the Target Car' on Sunday, November 16. Read More at http://blogs.discovery.com11.13.08
Sarah's Back
Sarah Palin speaks at the Republican Governors Association Conference in Miami, Florida. Even post-election she continues to fill the news. She has been interviewed by Matt Lauer, Larry King, and Greta Van Susteren of Fox News.11.13.08

Granny is moving too
Barack and Michelle Obama herald a new wave at the White House – granny is coming too. The Washington Post also mentions that Mamie Eisenhower's mother, Elvira Doud, wintered there; Bess Truman's mom, Madge Wallace, moved in and relentlessly bullied poor Harry.11.7.08
From Newsweek.com: Brains are Back!
According to the insulting article by Michael Hirsh, "After eight years of proud incuriosity and anti-intellectualism, we now have a leader who values nuance and careful thought." In referring to Obama, "He'll probably screw up a lot of things, especially at first. These are all risks worth taking after nearly eight years of a president who could barely form a coherent sentence, much less a strategic thought. We can finally go back to respecting logic and reason and studiousness under a president who doesn't seem to care much about what is "left," "right" or ideologically pure. Or what he thinks God is saying to him. A guy who keeps religion in its proper place—in the pew. It's no accident that Obama is the first Northern Democrat to be elected president since John F. Kennedy. The "Sun Belt" politics represented by George W. Bush – the politics of ideological rigidity, religious zealotry and anti-intellectualism-- "has for the moment played itself out," says presidential historian Robert Dallek."Archives...
