Daniel Cleveland
Daniel Cleveland, father of Jerusha Bushnell Cleveland Hawley, was born in Norwich, Connecticut, June 22, 1791. He owned property near the wharf, inherited from his mother, and had a share in the Norwich city library. 1 There he learned reed making, as well as being an artist, penman and jeweler. He married Clarrissa Ely October 9, 1815 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He moved to Springfield, Pennsylvania in 1816 where he built a flour mill, operated it for a few years, then, after the death of his wife, Clarrissa Ely (grave photo), he moved to Fairview, Iowa, where he died February 2, 1876.

Clarissa Ely Cleveland, wife of Daniel Cleveland mother of Jerusha was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts February 12, 1791. Her parents were Abigail Flowers and George Ely. 1
