Family Tree Poster, A Work of Art

Upon planning my first family reunion, I decided to put together a family tree poster to display. I planned to include as many generations as I could. Upon searching for a service that provided the ability to do this, I came upon Ancestry.com MyCanvas program. Through MyCanvas you can create the desired template (there are several to choose from, poster, book, etc.) by using the family tree already built out in Ancestry.com. I loved the features like backgrounds, frames, and embellishments. Though most of my poster was drawn manually which was a lot of work, I was pleased with the finished product which was printed to a 36 x 24 poster. MyCanvas did not provide an electronic version of my final work, so I had the poster scanned at our local copy center for a fee which provided a high resolution .pdf file for future print outs.

To bring this blog to date, Ancestry will be retiring MyCanvas service in 2014.
